Do you want to make a simple cranberry sauce using honey as your sweetener?
It is so easy to make your own cranberry sauce and once you’ve had a homemade version you’ll never want to buy from a shop again. This version only uses honey to sweeten it so it is not only delicious but good for you too.
You can make this well ahead of time as it will keep in the fridge for 10-14 days or in the freezer for a month (it will keep longer but may lose some of its taste).
I divided mine into two jars so I can get them out at different times as I love to have it throughout the Christmas period as it is not only good with the turkey or nut roast but also cheese and crackers and other snacks.
Ingredients
- 170g honey
- 50ml water
- Juice from one orange
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 250g cranberries
Method
Add all the ingredients except cranberries to a saucepan and heat gently until the honey is melted and everything is combined. Then add the cranberries and bring to a boil. Turn the heat down to medium and cook for 10 mins uncovered, stirring occasionally. The cranberries will burst and sauce will begin to thicken. A minute or so before turning off the heat, taste for sweetness and add more honey if you’d like it sweeter.
Let the sauce cool slightly before putting into your container or jars. The sauce will thicken when it cools.
